If you’d like to explore a bit further you can easily travel on the A7 south to the Lake District. You can also head north to the Scottish Borders and Kielder Forest. Hadrian’s Wall, the Solway Coast AONB and North Pennines AONB are also easily accessible. All are within an hour of Inch Farm.
Edinburgh and Glasgow are close enough for a day trip by train from Gretna Green, which is around 15 minutes drive away.
Just leaving the door at Inch Farm you have a multitude of activities to choose from. Enjoy miles of walks through untouched local woodlands. In the spring you have the added splender of primrose and bluebells. Spend your days fishing; you have the choice of either lake fishing or river fishing. Walk our nature trail which links several bird hides. Watch dippers and kingfishers in their natural habitat, you might even see an otter. We can also arrange seasonal trips for a private viewing of ospreys and nightjars.
Don’t worry if the activities aren’t for you. If you prefer to stay put, then Inch Farm itself is the perfect spot to switch off, relax and recharge the batteries. Unwind in the private garden and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Plus the garden has a firepit where you can sit and watch the night sky.
Whatever you choose to do, rest assured you will have a cosy, beautifully refurbished cottage to come back to. The building retains traditional character and has a host of modern comforts, making it an ideal home from home.
